Dual port beam splitter: 50/50 - 20/80. This is a very special beam splitter!
In some ways this b.s. is just like other beam splitters since it has a dual port enabling you to use two cameras simultaneously. For example, many dentists use their own (D-SLR or POINT & SHOOT)digital camera on one port to capture archival digital images for patient files. On the other port you would attach our high resolution color video camera that produces live video and is used for patient and staff education. But this is where the similarities end.
With this B.S. (no pun intended) the amount of light going to each side is different. The port on the left side receives 50% of the light going to the camera (for digital imaging) - and the remaining 50% goes to the left eyepiece for observation. The port on the right side gets 20% (for video imaging) and the remaining 80% goes to the right eyepiece for visual observation. This is a very ingenious design since cameras has different light requirements and now they can have it. (Digital still cameras require considerably more light than video cameras.) And the difference in light to each eye (50% to the left and 20% to the right) is not noticeable enough to make a difference.
If you plan on doing simultaneous imaging with digital and video cameras, this is the beam splitter for your needs!
NOTE: Seiler offers two Beam Splitters for Imaging. If you are "Building Your Revelation Microscope" you will need to make a selection between one of the beam splitters and add it to the shopping cart.
